Christmas Card #2

The second entry for a chance to win some great RAK on Christine's blog for the challenge here.

Came up with the second card with the outline left over after I cut my first tree out of the green handmade paper (see previous post). Green and red glitter to bling the foreground. Red thread on the top just to contrast. Took a red paper (rectangular) and wrapped golden thread around it randomly, which resembles Christmas tree decorations. (I am loving this technique right about know to add quick decorative touch to pieces I use in my cards). Some golden stickers completed the tree decorations. Red and golden in contrast to finish off this card :)

Christmas Card #1

The RAK on Christine's blog were just too tempting! Worked on 2 Christmas cards this week for her challenge here.

I had this red creased paper from a bouquet received much earlier (Yes I hoard all the paper I can ... never know when you may need it!!) which I used as a background. Cut out a tree with simple lines from green handmade paper. Used a layer of green glitter to bling it up with golden star stickers.

A cream glossy paper (doesn't show well on the photos) on the side to divide the main image from the sentiment. For the sentiment cut out a tag from the same green paper. Wrapped golden thread around it randomly to add dimension and some more bling with golden star outline stickers. To finish off, sentiment stamped onto a lighter green handmade paper and slid it in between the tag and the golden threads.

The perfect fit

Got around to making a simple card with some classic patterned paper (K&Company) using Laura's sketch this at 2S4Y ... I like to suprise my husband with some cards now and then and this I am sure he will love :)

Drew and cut out the puzzle pieces and the 'I' ''U' using a pair of scissors, so that took real long! :)Added some bling stones on the alphabets and the side sentiment to add contrast with the darker color scheme.

L O V E

My husband has been home this week 'cause of the Eid Holidays so got to this week's 2S4Y challenge a little late. Took me a while to decide how I could incorporate this Kazan's sketch 10.

Decided on green & brown with golden accents as the color scheme. The letter were printed on the home computer and then decorated with green glitter and golden beads. Outlined the letters L O V E with a black pen giving it a more 'handmade' feel. A golden thread wrapped around the 2 pieces of card stock (from K&Company) to add a little dimension and the 2 ribbons to finish it off!

Diwali Cards

Diwali, the Hindu New Year, is just a month away. It is also known as the 'Festival of Lights' where lamps/lights lit in the house on this day signify victory of good over the evil within every human being. It's all about the traditional prayers, decorations, new clothes, Indian sweets and most importantly time with family & friends - almost like an Hindu-Christmas! :)

Laura's sketch No.9 on 2S4Y got me started on cards to give out to family this week. Here are 2 variations of the sketch that I came up with using some Indian wedding cards I had stored away.
The first one focuses on 'OM' a sacred Hindu symbol to signify the beginning of most Hindu 'pooja' (prayer) in patterned silver and blue paper with hints of red (an auspicious color for Hindus)

The second one focuses on Lord Ganesha, the most worshipped diety especially honored at the start of rituals and ceremonies. Traditional Indian designs on maroon, red and yellow backgrounds were just right for this card. A tassled red/golden thread, traditionally Indian, completed the look.

Inspired by CPS

Ever since I saw a sketch at CPS, these circle ideas were swirling in my head!
Managed a set of 4 with similar colors but the elements mix-n-match ... :) I think they are really appropriate for kids with the bright colors and smiley balloons!

P.S. Am not satisfied with these shots as I still haven't managed to find the perfect spot for taking pictures : The colors just don't come out right!!

SISTER ... Miss You

New week and a new sketch up at 2S4Y from Kazan. Here is her sketch ...

And my take on it (with paper and Cardstock flowers from K&Company; flower embellishments from the local store) ... this one had a lot of elements so it was fun to choose and pick and place my favorite bits and pieces :)
